After being released earlier in the week by the Baltimore Ravens, 6 time Pro-Bowl safety Eric Weddle has agreed to a 2 year contract with $10.5mil that can be worth up to $12.5mil with incentives, $5.25 fully guaranteed.
The signing of Weddle gives the Rams a proven veteran star and leader to replace their biggest hole heading into the off-season, free safety. Not only is last years free safety LaMarcus Joyner set to hit free agency, who was clearly the weak point in the Rams secondary last year. This is a huge deal for the Rams as it not only represents a big time upgrade at the position but at less than half the cost. This move really opens up the possibilities of what the Rams can do with the remaining salary cap once Free Agency begins.
